CHILD: HERMAN GUTERRES
Herman Guterres is a very shy and quite student in the classroom, her fellow students call him Eman.
Eman is 11 years old, the oldest among 6 siblings. Currently, he is in grade 3 at the EBF 1.2 Tilomar School which is located in Covalima municipality.
Eman’s school is located in a rural area. Every day he walks to school with his friends. Although, it is hot and far, they make it to school every day.
Eman’s school is also one of the target schools for the distribution of Lafaek Prima magazine. Previously, reading and mathematics were very hard for Eman. Fortunately, his parents and teachers always support him at the school and at home.
When Eman started receiving the Prima Lafaek magazines he took good care of them. In order to support him, Eman’s parents decided to use the Lafaek magazines to teach him every day at home.
“At home my Mom and Dad help me to learn and complete my homework and we also read stories about the eagle and the rooster.”
The distribution of the Lafaek magazines have really helped Eman. They contain attractive stories and mathematic games which make it fun for him and become better in reading in both Portuguese and Tetum.
“I like to read the short story about the eagle and the rooster, as well as the one about Riko and his friends in Lafaek Prima.”
Now he is even more motivated to go to school every day. He wakes up early in the morning and prepares his school bag and never forgets to put the Lafaek Prima magazine in his bag.
In the future, Eman wants to become a teacher and teach at the same school where he studies right now. He wants to share his knowledge with others.
“I want to be a teacher in this school and share my knowledge with other people.”
