With support from the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP) and Australian NGO Cooperation Program (ANCP) mechanism in Timor-Leste, CARE is proud to continue its support to the Ministry of Health’s vaccination campaign, as well as equipping health facilities across the country.
Over 2,300 household hygiene kits will be distributed to vulnerable households as part of the vaccination programme, and the office equipment will be used to support health service provision in remote community health centres, health posts, and municipal health centres, as well as the national departments for Sexual Reproductive Health, Health Promotion, and Partnership and Cooperation.
The Country Director of CARE International in Timor-Leste, Peter Goodfellow noted that “as the health response to the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, ensuring that vulnerable groups in remote areas of the country are appropriately informed and vaccinated, and are accessing sexual, reproductive and maternal health services, remains a key priority.”
As the Minister of Health, H.E Odete Maria Freitas Belo stated during her intervention at the event, “I want to give my sincere appreciation to CARE for the handover of this equipment. This will be crucial to support our pregnant mothers, our hospitals in the country and alleviate the challenges we still face with COVID-19. I look forward to strengthening our partnership moving forward.”
